all about me me me

Sherry Kline

I was born in Bethesda, Maryland but have been living on the west coast since I was 18 months old. I’ve lived in Arizona for over 50 years and cannot imagine being anywhere else. I attended Saguaro High School (Sherry Rowe ’70) and met my future husband, Danny, at Northern Arizona University. He was an older, wiser 5th-year senior and I was a naive, energetic 18-year-old freshman. He must of seen something in me that convinced him to ask me to marry him on our second date and we have been married for over 40 years. I told you he was wise!

When Danny graduated from University of Southern California Dental School, we settled in Chandler and raised three brilliant, strong-willed sons. Since the guys have moved out, we have experienced the transition from raising children to having an adult relationship with grown sons. Danny and I are also loving our time getting to know each all over again. We moved to his beloved desert in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains of Apache Junction,to commune with the desert and enjoy the fresh air and critters.

After years of helping Danny in his Chandler dental practice and driving the guys around the Valley to their various activities, I found myself retired from both work and motherhood and alone in the house for the first time in my life. For years I was content  being Danny’s wife, the guys’ Ma and, lately, my three beautiful granddaughters’ Nana, but now found myself wondering, ‘Just who IS ‘Sherry?’ To protect my husband from my nagging him to be home more and stalking my poor sons and granddaughters, I decided I needed to find something else to keep me occupied! I started learning to cook and dabbling in aromatherapy, which led to my lotions and potions passion. Making products to give away for gifts is one of my favorite things to do.

One morning while scrolling through the internet and watching Your Life AtoZ, it was announced they were looking for a new Mom’s Squad. I had always enjoyed those segments (I was constantly answering questions and yelling my opinion to the television screen!) and since I was fresh off a 4-shot latte (gotta love those lattes!), I thought, ‘Well, I think I could do that!’ I wrote a letter, sent it off and was shocked when I was called in for an interview and invited to join! And what an adventure it’s been!

When our time doing the Mom’s Squad came to a natural end, I was then asked to come and talk about some household cleaning items that I made myself. And here we are today! This is so surreal to me and I honestly do not think of myself on television and am initially a bit puzzled when someone says, ‘I saw you on tv the other day!’ The people at Your LIfe are some of the nicest and most supportive you would ever meet. They do everything they can to make me feel comfortable in front of the camera. I love sharing what brings joy to my life and being able to do this on television is incredible. I can only hope that someone else learns something new and enjoys it as much as I do
